    About

    Hey there!

My name is Matthew Grau and, among other things, I am the co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of Infrno! What does that mean? That means it's my job to make sure that you are getting the experience you want when you use Infrno, in all regards. So if you think something should be here that isn't or something doesn't work the way you want it to, I'm the guy to talk to. Of course, I also accept kudos on things that are working well, too! :)

I play all kinds of roleplaying games. In fact, I would find it difficult to find one that I wouldn't try. Typically, my tastes run more towards the urban fantasy or horror side of gaming. Some of my favorite games are CthulhuTech (go figure), Call of Cthulhu, Chill, and Kult. However, I also have a very serious soft-spot for games of license properties, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, and the like. I am also a fan of interesting obscure games like Talislanta, Skyrealms of Jorune, and Mechanical Dreams.

As far as what I am willing to run – pretty much anything I play. Obviously, I'll run my own stuff at the drop of a hat. I also love to run crazy game, too, like Teenagers from Outer Space, Paranoia, and Hol – and I am the only person I have ever met that will claim to be willing to run Hol. Most people don't even believe it's a playable game.

But, for more formal purposes, my bio:

Matthew Grau: Director, Screenwriter, and Intellectual Property Developer

Matthew has been a professional writer and intellectual property developer for almost two decades. He began his career in the adventure games industry, writing books and designing game rules for such popular titles and licenses as Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel Super Heroes, Frank Herbert's Dune, Star Trek, and Star Wars. His most recent efforts put him at the helm of WildFire's ENnie Award winning CthulhuTech, as well as a lore, character, and voice-over developer for Riot Games MOBA League of Legends.

In the late 90's, Matthew moved into the film and television arena. He has written scripts and directed productions for clients such as Microsoft and Nintendo, and created and wrote the
Curiosity Cafe television show and kick-off feature film on a first-look agreement with the Jim Henson Company. He is an award-winning screenwriter with projects currently in the Hollywood studio system.

Matthew is an honors graduate of the Carlson School of Management of the University of Minnesota and of the University of Washington.

  • I know it's a ton out of date, but nothing is more fun that being able to threaten to walk off stage and get to negotiate with your GM to reset the scene to your advantage. A great game for all you meta-gamers out there. :)

    The Music Flows

The Iris Club in Los Angeles beckons. Residency is a wonderful thing. Been jamming out a lot of Drum & Bass and Dubstep lately. Wonder what that's going to do for the crowd on Saturday. :)

    Props to our NZ Peeps

Our thoughts go out to our New Zealand peeps in the wake of the terrible earthquakes that have ravaged that lovely country. Through WildFire, we are participating in the DriveThru RPG bundle designed to help victims of the quakes. Proceeds from such purchases will go to the appropriate charities. Keep...

    Burning Horizon Home Stretch

For you CthulhuTech fans, we are in the home stretch in finishing up Burning Horizon. It's the second CthulhuTech story book, the next book after Damnation View, and it advances the plot to the year 2087. There's a mess of cool stuff in here, but I have to be vague...

    Ch-ch-changes!

They say the more things change, the more they stay the same. Not true for this cowboy. In addition to my Infrno duties, and my duties guiding the WildFire creative ship, I have taken a position as Senior Creative Designer at Riot Games. I'm working on the free-to-play video game...

Hi Matt! Just wanted to say I had a great time talking with you and Mike at RINCON this weekend. I'm extremely excited about Infrno and I can't wait to find out what you guys have planned for the future. See you at NEONCON!

@Spud: Great getting a chance to talk to you at NeonCon as well! Even if we were both a little wrecked from after-hours fun. :)

@Doug: The Sith have been unleashed. Embrace the Dark Side so that others may learn from your example.

Sorry to hear about the publishing issues with Sandstorm.  Hope everything gets worked out.  I really, REALLY want to get my hands on The Void. So hopefully it won't be delayed too long.

THANKS so much for the add!  It was a pleasure meeting you at GenCon, and I think I partially have you to thank for my newfound interest in RPG's!
