    About

Musician, punk, and activist, I also happen to be a huge nerd.  Star Wars, Spider-man, and of course, TTRPGs are my nerd-vices.

I play D&D (Basic, 1st, 2nd, and 3.x), Pathfinder, Palladium Fantasy, Rifts, Ninjas and Superspies, TMNT/After the Bomb, GURPS, oWoD (big fan of Werewolf), Star Wars (the old D6 system is my favorite, but I also enjoy the d20/SAGA versions), aaaaand..... well, I can't think of any more, but I'm open to trying other games as well.  I might even reluctantly try playing D&D 4e, but after reading through the books, I already think I'm not gonna like it, never been an MMO fan, and it just screams (to me) WoW on paper.

I like a good mix of roleplaying and combat, and get equally deep into both, which is to say f'ing immersed.  I don't play my character, I become him.  Even for one shot games I usually come up with at least a halfway decent background and personality.  I like to play characters that don't fit in quite right, be that because of an exotic race, criminal background, or just someone with a perpetual 'outsider' complex.  The rogue that refuses to join the Thieves' Guild, the barbarian in the middle of the urban campaign, the aaracokra or thri-kreen spearman, the cast out sorcerer, or just the halfling that got pushed a little to far and went nuts.  I tend to play combat and/or stealth oriented characters, though the occassional caster isn't beyond me.

My love of roleplaying aside, I LOVE TACTICS!  I revel in the decisions and actions that it takes to win a combat.  I know the system, and how to make an "optimized" character, but I always do within my concept, even if that means that I won't actually be optimized.  I'm not a munchkin, I'm a roleplayer that also enjoys the rules and what can be done with them.

Overall I'm looking for either earlier edition AD&D (1st or 2nd), or Pathfinder games, but I'm up for anything interesting really.  Not really into PbP, too slow.  I'd like to get into a d20pro game of some sort really, or something else with a VTT, or of course a real life game too, but I don't have much time for that.

    The Future of RPG's

I use quite a few computer programs and websites for my gaming these days, and the use of these utilities is growing.  I want to talk for a minute about what I see changing in the realm of RPG's thanks to tools like these.   So first I'll talk about...
