About

I'm fairly new to gaming, only been playing the last 4 years or so. Mostly I've played OWoD, Exalted, Shadowrun (using bits and pieces from the first 3 editions), RIFTS (very little). I've also played a little bit of Fiasco, Shab al-hiri Roach, Marvel Universe RPG... and probably a dozen or so others I can't think of off hand. I've run a short campaign of MURPG (locked door mystery with supers, went about as well as you'd expect), and a couple short runs of Sorcerer.

In general I'm hoping to get a chance to play Apocalypse World, Dresden Files RPG, Burning Wheel/Empires/Mouse Guard, Poison'd, HeroQuest... there's a few others on the list.

Though here I'm hoping to get a chance to run a campaign of Nobilis (whenever I can get my hands on a copy). I may run a few other games here, and might join a couple once I know what kind of experience this medium supports (haven't RPed online before).

I mostly prefer games where conflicts and stats are more abstracted, more general, and where stakes are clearly defined before any dice are picked up. And yes, I do prefer dice based mechanics, though I'm by no means hard-core on that issue. I also have several systems and settings I'm working on, a few of which use less usual forms of conflict resolution (like a table top RPG that uses a magic 8 ball for conflict resolution).

If everything works out here I'd like to run a campaign of Nobilis that gets it's flavor from the works of Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Neverwhere, and Sandman as inspiration). I'd also like to run a game of MURPG using a more literal interpretation of the energy regen rules (recovery each frame rather than every minute of in-game time). I figure both of those systems should suit the medium quite well.

  • The base setup in Sorcerer could best be described as "demons don't exist, and yet you've bound one". Demons don't exist, yet your sorcerer has, through sheer force of will, broken a small part of reality to bring one here. A bit koan-like I know, but that's part of whats...

  • KO Corral - I'd like to run a Cthulhu campaign (not sure which system yet) set in the Arizona territories at around 1920/30 (yes, I'm talking about revisionist history here). I was inspired by this after listening to the song KO Corral by Humanoids (song's fee to download, and comes...
